Surf Trips!
In the morning of, ecstasy of excitement has woken me before my alarm. A quick mental run through of the checklist: car, surfboards, friends, money, toothbrush, all set to go.
Throw down a quick coffee & tie down the boards. We are under way. A debate rises of what we will find at our final destination but one thing is for sure, the energy of anticipation coming from all those in the car can only be described as Frothing! We arrive with a sigh of relief & all heads are out the window peering at the big blue. Now lets back track a bit , why would I want to travel afar to find waves when I already live near a beach.
You know that feeling when you have booked your holiday, bragged to your friends that you are taking off to enjoy the good life while they stay in the office & play solitaire, that feeling of being set free
& for a short while without the stress of routine or deadlines. Well thats starting to get close to the feeling of knowing you are about to surf waves in a location other than what your used to. There is something special about the adventure of exploring new territory & the potential of scoring some unbelievable waves with your great friends. That day dream of riding a wave so perfect, life just stands still.
Its not just the waves, its the whole adventure, the camaraderie of your mates, the laughs, the memories, its about doing something zestful & discovering the newness of what else is out there.
A surf trip can be down to another beach, across country or two planes, a boat & camel ride away. It’s not so much the destination which highlights the trip its the odyssey getting there.
So what are you waiting for, call the boss take that outstanding holiday leave & treat yourself.
